 GEORGE B. STAUFFER | George B. Stauffer is Dean of the Mason Gross School of the Arts and Professor of Music History at Rutgers University. Educated at Dartmouth College, Bryn Mawr College, and Columbia University, he is well known for his writings on the music and culture of the Baroque Era and the life and works of Johann Sebastian Bach in particular. He has published six books, including, most recently, J.S. Bach: The Mass in B Minor (Yale University Press, 2003). Together with George Ritchie, he is also author of the widely used organ textbook, Organ Technique: Modern and Early (Oxford University Press, 2000). As an organist and organ consultant, Stauffer served for twenty-two years as University Organist and Director of Chapel Music at Columbia University and as organ consultant for Central Synagogue in New York and Vassar College. |
